What’s It Like Living in Palm Coast? Here’s What Surprised Me After Moving Here

After over two decades in real estate, I thought I had a pretty good handle on what to expect from any city I moved to. But Palm Coast? It still managed to surprise me — in the best way possible.

1. It’s Quiet… in a Good Way
Coming from a faster-paced market, I wasn’t prepared for how peaceful Palm Coast feels. The slower pace took a bit to get used to, but now I genuinely appreciate the calm energy. It’s a great place to reset — and raise a family.

2. The Hidden Nature Spots
There are trails and parks everywhere! Whether it's Waterfront Park or the many walking trails tucked into neighborhoods, it’s easy to disconnect and enjoy some real Florida beauty without going far.

3. The People Are… Really Nice
This one caught me off guard. People wave. They say hello at the grocery store. I’ve met more neighbors here in 6 months than I did in the last 5 years elsewhere.

4. Small Town Vibe, Big Potential
It’s growing — fast. But there’s still a hometown feel. You get a sense that you’re living in a place that’s going somewhere, but hasn’t lost its roots yet. As a realtor, that’s exciting. As a resident, it's reassuring.

5. Real Estate is Still Reasonable
Compared to other Florida hotspots, Palm Coast offers a lot of value. Whether you're buying your first home or investing, it's a smart place to look — and I’m not just saying that because I sell here.

6. It’s a Beach Town… with Big-City Perks
One thing that really stood out to me after moving here is how close you are to the beach — and not just any beach, but a truly quaint, uncrowded, peaceful stretch of coastline. Palm Coast has all the fixins of a larger city — shopping centers, supermarkets, restaurants — but just minutes away, you’re dipping your toes in the ocean, grabbing lunch at a beachside café, or watching the sunrise in total quiet. It’s the best of both worlds.
